Conservative fighting for the city of Seabrook and Harris County
Help us campaign today for a better tomorrow!
Help us campaign today for a better tomorrow!
I wish to serve as your business-minded, pragmatic, common-sense voice on our Council. I want to preserve what we cherish about our small community while keeping an eye on the responsible and careful development of our town. We are at a critical crossroads regarding the shape Seabrook will take in the future and we need to exercise discernment now more than ever as we decide which types of businesses we attract to our area. I bring to the table boundless energy, passion, a strong work ethic, exceptional organizational skills, and my goal is to do everything within my power to ensure Seabrook thrives culturally, environmentally and economically.
Involvement at the Local Level During This Pivotal Time
I have always been a unifier of people, a connector, a consensus builder. I believe more can be achieved through positivity and cooperation. As neighbors we have an equally vested interest in the future of our beloved Seabrook. We are at a pivotal moment in time. While it’s challenging to effect change at the national level, we CAN be proactive at the local level on issues that impact our immediate day-to-day lives and our children’s futures.
Decisions made by our City Council today can significantly impact our city ten years from now. As a businesswoman, as an entrepreneur with a side venture, and as a mom of 4 children, I wish to shape Seabrook’s future into one we will all continue to embrace decades from now. Many of those decisions are being made today. This is one reason why I am running. The moment to decide our future is now.
Have you ever seen announcements made about our city’s development and wondered “How did this happen? When did we vote on this? Why didn’t I know about this before? It seems like it’s too late to do anything about it now.” I know I have. That’s another reason that inspired me to throw my hat into the ring. Early involvement in the decision making and planning process is critical.
I Want to be YOUR Voice
I am not running because of political or professional ambition. This is not a stepping stone to something larger. I simply care about our town, its citizens, and feel a calling to step up and serve. I wish to preserve our small-town charm while being a responsible steward to ensure a vibrant Seabrook going forward. I want to listen to YOUR wants, concerns, and needs and in turn represent YOU on our Council. I want to be YOUR voice on matters being voted on today that will impact you and our community down the road. I am here to LISTEN and to represent your wishes.
I’m a native Houstonian. I have lived in Seabrook for 11 years. My husband co-owns a successful structured data cabling business. I am the Business Administrator which means I wear several hats. We are licensed and/or registered in over a dozen states. I understand the day-to-day challenges and intricacies of running a nationwide business (payroll, scheduling, tax reporting, fiscal projections, accounts payable/receivable, human resources, insurance negotiations, etc.) and pride myself on fostering excellent relationships with customers, employees and vendors.
I’m passionate about gardening. In particular I enjoy growing succulents as well as fruits and vegetables. I have turned this passion into a business creating succulent arrangements which my business partner and I sell at local markets. You might have met me at Celebration Seabrook or at Lakewood Yacht Club’s Christmas Market to name a couple.
However, my most cherished titles are that of wife, mother of 4 children, and proud grandmother of a one year old. My family is my inspiration for running. I am concerned about the future legacy we create for today’s children.
FARMER’s MARKET
I’d like to combine my passion for gardening and of bringing people together by establishing a weekly Seabrook Farmer’s Market where we can buy fresh locally sourced meat, eggs and produce and support small businesses. I’d also like to create an adjoining food truck courtyard and various activities for the kids. My goal is to create a gathering place where families old and young alike can hang out, listen to live music, buy fresh locally sourced food – while providing an outlet for small local businesses. I feel this would enhance our small-town community charm for which we’re known and enhance our quality of life.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
It’s paramount to maintain a healthy balance of our spaces between residential, retail and recreational. I’d like to keep our tax rates low while providing exceptional service to our residents. This takes long term vision and planning. City Council is currently deciding on many of these issues today that will significantly shape our city’s future.
Seabrook lost 76 small businesses due to the Highway 146 expansion. That was a significant part of our tax base. Whether we like it or not, business development and growth is in the cards for Seabrook. Frankly, looking at it from a purely fiscal standpoint, we need to make up for this loss of business tax revenue. Otherwise, those increased costs will likely be passed along to residents. What we CAN do is manage this growth in a responsible and sustainable way that is balanced with the desires of residents. We need to ensure the businesses we court are those that would add value to our residents. This is why I would love to hear from you about your wants and needs, your vision for Seabrook – so I can better represent your voice and vote on issues accordingly. Let’s work together to create our vision for a vibrant and thriving Seabrook!
